Iowa's HF 2605, signed May 17, 2024 and effective July 1, 2024, bans all inhalable/smokable hemp — THCA flower, pre-rolls, vapes, and dabs — as a serious misdemeanor under Iowa Code 204.14A. Ingestible hemp-derived delta-9 is restricted to edibles/beverages capped at 4 mg total THC per serving and 10 mg per container. Non-intoxicating CBD within those limits remains available. Is hemp-derived THC federally legal?
Yes. Hemp-derived cannabinoids are federally legal under the 2018 Farm Bill when the product contains less than 0.3% Delta-9 THC by dry weight. However, individual states can and do impose their own stricter rules, so legality varies by state.
